The
“Defend Reagan Committee” was formed to defend the Reagan
Legacy from a smear campaign waged by the creators, producers, writers
and actors involved in the CBS miniseries “The Reagans.”
The
Honorable Howard Kaloogian – Chairman
The
Honorable Howard Kaloogian (Republican) served as a Member of the California
State Assembly from 1994-2000. Mr. Kaloogian most recently made history
as Chairman of the Recall Gray Davis Committee. Mr. Kaloogian led the
historic effort that resulted in the first recall of a Governor of California
in History.
Considering
former President and California Governor Ronald Reagan to be one of his
political heroes, Kaloogian was also a leader in the effort to designate
"California... Reagan Country" as authorized “vanity”
license plates for use by California drivers.
A
champion of Proposition 13 and taxpayer hero, Kaloogian is a strong voice
for fiscal responsibility, individual freedoms and conservative values.
Kaloogian continues his efforts on this front as a conservative radio
talk show host, noted convention speaker, documentary host and advocate
for a limited role for the government consistent with constitutional guidelines.
Sal Russo – Chief Political Advisor
Mr. Russo has spent
over 30 years in the field of political consulting and public affairs.
Mr. Russo began his political career as a special assistant to Governor
Ronald Reagan after serving as a volunteer in his 1966 gubernatorial campaign.
Mr. Russo later founded his own political consulting firm in 1976.
Sal
Russo has been at the forefront of some of the most prominent national,
state and local campaigns, including the election of Governor George Deukmejian
(1982), Senator Alfonse D’Amato, New York (1992), Governor George
Pataki, New York (1994), presidential bids by Jack Kemp and Senator Orrin
Hatch and The Recall of Governor Gray Davis (2003).
Douglas
Lorenz – Grassroots Coordinator
Mr.
Lorenz is Chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus, a nationwide Republican
organization founded in 1990 and affiliated with the national Republican
Party. Doug has been very active in developing volunteer political organizations
and utilizing advanced technologies to extend their reach. He provided
the first online presence for the California College Republicans.
In
addition, Mr. Lorenz has developed online websites and communications
strategies for a host of Republican political candidates including GOP
gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon and U.S. Senate candidate, Toni Casey.
